Green Homes Bloom in Albuquerque: Ribbon-Cutting/Press Conference at Newly-Built Environmentally-Progressive Luxury Home Highlights Green Building in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO (May 16, 2007) – Rebekah Green and her Albuquerque-based design and construction firm Intelligent Green Homes™ (IGH) will host a ribbon-cutting/press conference Wednesday, May 16th at 3:00 p.m., in the NE Heights. It is part of the US Green Building Council’s “Sustainability Week” and will showcase IGH’s new luxury “green” home that features the latest innovations in high-end, eco-friendly, and energy-efficient construction. Albuquerque City Councilor Martin Heinrich, Special Asst. to the Governor for Renewable Energy Craig O’Hare, and the Chairman of the HBA’s Build Green NM Dee Durano will speak about the momentum “green” is gaining. Rebekah Green’s home will then be open for the public to experience as part of the Annual Green Built Home Tour, which takes place the following weekend May 19-20.

As the largest of IGH’s projects to date, the luxury $1.3 million, 5,490 square feet residence is built of energy-efficient, non-toxic aerated autoclaved concrete. The interior boasts locally-handcrafted cabinetry, doors and custom carpentry made from100% locally recycled wood, locally-sourced non-toxic clay interior walls, and long-lasting low-maintenance bamboo floors – a renewable resource. The landscape uses “permaculture” design including low-water-use native vegetation and a grey water system.

“My new houses with ‘green’ environmentally-conscious construction are about making smart and healthy choices,” said Green. “This new ‘green’ approach also can fit an upmarket lifestyle and still benefit the environment and community.”

Rebekah Green, a 30-year-old native of Albuquerque, launched her home design and construction company in 2003.  She has since built nine homes in Albuquerque and Placitas using a variety of eco-friendly and non-toxic designs and sustainable materials.  Earlier this year, she took her experience to national audiences at environmental conferences speaking on “green” building techniques.  She also recently teamed with Beverly Hills-based brand management firm The Robert Thorne Company and a top Hollywood television packaging agency and award-winning reality television production company to fast-track development of a primetime television program featuring modern “green” lifestyles, a “green” consumer products line, and “green” book series, among other progressive enterprises.

“Rebekah will be the leading lady of ‘green’, here and abroad,” said Robert Thorne, CEO of TRTC.  “No one speaks the language of ‘green’ better.  Rebekah translates the highly technical concepts of the critically important ‘green’ movement into terms everyone understands and embraces.”
