Recycled Gold vs. Recycled Pipe Cleaners

At the Waldorf Astoria in NYC... I saw this display in one of their cases in the lobby.  I'm not sure what they are selling... but I thought that, with our hair, we looked like soul sisters!

There's only one problem, I've got my lightweight gold hoop earrings on, but ... where are hers??  When I think about it, the dangling chandelier triple mandala 14K gold earrings would look fantastic with her shorter hair cut and her off the shoulder evening gown!  ;)  And just like we are known for recycled gold here at Rebekah Green Jewelry, I hope she's known for recycling her pipe cleaners!

In another case near this one, another artist was displaying a collection of antique wedding memorabilia.  They had very old, hand-written invitations made from paper that was barely standing the test of time.  There was a Faberge Egg which was apparently a gift from one prominent family to another when their children got married.  There were gloves worn by a bride from old one hundred years ago, at a time when that was a typical wedding dress accessory.  And finally, there was a collection of the most exquisite vintage engagement rings which sparkled as brightly as the day that they were made.  I was blown away by the hand craftsmanship of the gold wedding rings, some with small, delicate stones and others with large, jaw-dropping stones.  I preferred the smaller stones myself, and they got me thinking about taking my jewelry in a new direction and beginning to start my own line of eco friendly engagement rings and green wedding bands.

I took some pictures for inspiration and I'm excited to begin working on this new idea!
